Premier, a healthcare services company headquartered in North Carolina, faced the challenge of processing a growing volume of invoices on behalf of its clients—hospitals and healthcare providers. Premier's team relied heavily on manual intervention to extract and validate data, with about 1,000 invoices requiring the work of six employees every day. Despite some automation, 85% of the invoices still required human intervention.
Premier used UiPath Document Understanding™ and machine learning to reduce manual steps from 85% to just 15% of the invoicing process. This was a 7x improvement in efficiency. The new automation can process about 1,000 invoices daily, so it only needs one employee instead of six. Premier can now handle more invoices with little staff change. This saves a lot of money and makes the company run smoother.
We ended up with a complete inversion of manual to automated ratios. Instead of 85% of the invoices involving a person, 85% were fully automated. So that’s a pretty remarkable advancement.
