Continental Resources, a top 10 independent oil and gas producer in the United States, operates across four major basins and five states. Founded in 1967 and employing approximately 1,700 people, the company is focused on driving operational efficiency and innovation across its energy operations.
As the business scaled, it faced a familiar—but complex—challenge: critical operational data arriving through inconsistent, unstructured emails. Engineers were forced to manually validate well completion data, navigating widely varying formats and long, complex well names that increased the risk of errors. The process slowed the flow of information, delaying downstream engineering decisions and tying up skilled employees in repetitive, low-value work. At scale, this wasn’t just inefficient—it was limiting how quickly Continental Resources could act on critical field data.
Faced with fragmented data and manual validation, Continental Resources needed a better way to ensure accurate information reached engineers—quickly, reliably, and without constant human intervention.
The team stepped back and asked a simple question: why are we doing this manually at all? From there, they rethought the process end-to-end—eliminating unnecessary steps and rebuilding it as a coordinated workflow using the UiPath Platform™.
Using UiPath Agent Builder, they developed an agent to process incoming emails and interpret unstructured data. Because the data was often ambiguous—especially with complex naming conventions—they paired it with a Databricks agent to validate and score accuracy, adding a layer of context grounding and confidence to every decision.
With that validation in place, UiPath Robots orchestrate the process from intake to resolution—interpreting incoming data, validating it, determining accuracy without person intervention, and automatically routing incorrect submissions back to suppliers with clear feedback. Clean, validated data flows directly to engineers in real time, ready for immediate use.
In the initial phase, UiPath Action Center supported human-in-the-loop validation. But as trust in the system grew, that step was removed entirely—transforming the workflow into a fully automated, confidence-driven process.
What was once a fragmented, email-driven process is now a coordinated system where agents, automation, and data validation work together in a single flow—ensuring accurate information reaches the right people at the right time.
